The drug was ready to be marketed by international Cartels and distributed in illegal markets in Central America.
The operation was carried out through a checkpoint by Army troops, through the special resources of the Infantry Battalion N潞 7 and the Cavalry Group N潞 8, in coordination with units of the National Police, as part of an operation to strengthen security in the area and counter illicit activities on this important road axis.
A cargo car carrying a significant amount of narcotics in a concealed manner was intercepted at this checkpoint. Upon checking its contents, approximately one ton of marijuana was found.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and put into custody of the authorities, along with the material found. The National Police conducted the urgent acts sought by the law, while progress is being made in the prosecution procedures carried out by the Attorney General's Office.
This result represents a powerful blow to the illicit activities that finance criminal structures in the southwest of the country. The finding of this substance prevents its distribution in urban centers, which directly contributes to the protection of communities and the prevention of consumption, especially among children, young people and adolescents.
