In combats against the Cacique Calarcá Front of this GAO, the soldiers of the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army Reported this result. A minor was in the same way recovered.
Within the framework of military operations focused on the protection of the inhabitants, the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police and the Colombian Aerospace Force, have engaged combats in the village Pueblo Nuevo, of the municipality of Tadó, department of Chocó, against members of the Cacique Calarcá Front, of the organized armed group (GAO) ELN, where the result was the arrest of four individuals and a recovered minor who was assisted by the combat nurse and stabilized; troops also reported the death in the framework of military operations of two of the groups’ members.
This illegal structure is responsible for extortions against transporters, who were intimidated with the incineration of buses and tractor-trailers on the road leading from Tadó to Quibdó. its victims in the same way include merchants from chain stores based in the region.
In the same way, 5 short weapons, a longrifle, 3 hand grenades, 4 grenades, an anti-personnel mine were found by troops; in addition to ammunition of different calibers, magazines and military accessories. This material along with the arrested were put into custody of the authorities for the respective prosecution process.
In events that are subject of investigation, two more members of this organized armed group were injured; however, 200 people of the region tumultuously arrived at the point of the operation and intervened, obstructing the arrest procedures of these individuals, and, additionally, taking the war material the individuals possessed, contaminating the scene of the events. Due to this situation, the corresponding denunciations will be filed with the relevant authorities.
In this military operation, unfortunately, Corporal Miguel Ángel Martínez Chimbi was killed by members of this GAO; he perished bravely fighting against these terrorists for the defense and protection of the inhabitants. Colombian National Army sends its support to the family of this hero who gave his life for the homeland, reiterating a heartfelt message of condolences to his relatives.
His work for security will not be in vain and his bravery will be an example for his military comrades.
