In response to the emergency caused by the recent earthquake that hit the east of Cundinamarca, Colombian National Army, through the Fourth Division and the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion Nº4, led a Development Support Activity in the village of Santa Cecilia in the municipality of Paratebueno.
The purpose of the activity was to provide assistance to the troubled families, reaffirming the Army's commitment to the most vulnerable communities. During the activity, free medical assistance services were provided and more than 7 tons of humanitarian aid were distributed as:
* Grooming kits
* 10,605 items of clothing
• 2 wheelchairs
* 90 flashlights
• 105 thermos flasks
* 1,200 school kits
• 357 packs of toilet paper
* Acrylic boards, towels, blankets and non-perishable food
In addition, recreational activities and cultural presentations were carried out to emotionally relieve the inhabitants and strengthen the social fabric in the midst of the contingency.
"These operations are carried out with the firm purpose of contributing to the well-being of the neediest communities, reaffirming the commitment of Colombian National Army to always be present where it is most needed, not only in security tasks, but in the same way in initiatives that promote social and human development,” said Colonel Gerson Geovanni Rincón Morantes, commander of the Seventh Brigade.
