Colombian National Army deactivates unexploded ordnance in the department of Huila

Ejército Nacional de Colombia desactiva munición

The 26th Infantry Battalion Cacique Pigoanza, of the Ninth Brigade, reports on the successful destruction of two unexploded 40 mm grenades in La Plata, Huila department.

The military operation was carried out in the village of La Reforma, in the municipality of La Plata. The finding was made during the constant security tasks carried out by the Cacique Pigoanza Battalion, whose members, during a perimeter check, detected the grenades hidden in the vegetation of the sector.

Immediately, the security protocols were activated. The personnel specialized in Explosives and Demolitions (EXDE) of Colombian National Army moved to the area to verify the situation and, following the established procedures, proceeded to the controlled destruction of the explosive devices, thus neutralizing any risk to the inhabitants.

The unit immediately reported the facts to its superior command, from where the relevant instructions were issued to work for due process and security in the area. This action reaffirms the commitment of Colombian National Army to the protection of the life and security of citizens in Colombian territory.
