As part of sustained military operations to preserve security, troops of the Fifth Brigade reported arrest in flagrante delicto an alleged member of the organized armed group (GAO) in the urban area of the municipality of Aguachica, department of Cesar, who apparently participated in the terrorist act against the military base on December 18.
The military operation is carried out within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Military Operation Plan, troops of Infantry Battalion No. 14 Capitan Antonio Ricaurte, and in coordination with the National Police, through search procedures, it was possible to arrest in flagrante delicto an individual, known by the alias of Ismael, who must face judicial authorities for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying weapons and ammunition.
According to intelligence information, this individual would be part of a support network for the GAO ELN structures that commit crimes in this region of the country. During the procedure, 85 5.56 mm caliber cartridges, a grenade, flags alluding to the GAO ELN and cell phones were found by troops.
Alias Ismael would be linked to the terrorist attack reported on December 18, 2025 against the military unit in the rural area of the municipality of Aguachica, department of Cesar.
The arrested man and the items found were put into custody of the authority to continue with the corresponding judicial process.
