A platoon of the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army is supporting the families who were hit by the overflow of a stream.
In the early morning hours of this Wednesday, a serious emergency was reported in the Ambeima forest village, of the La Marina village, in the municipality of Chaparral, where the overflow of the El Chiras stream, hit several families. In the face of the emergency, soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No.17 General Domingo Caicedo, of the Sixth Army Brigade, came to the scene helping with the evacuation of the families.
At the scene of the events, unfortunately, a woman died when a landslide hit her, her husband and two minors in the same way suffered serious injuries to their limbs, being assisted and evacuated to the San Juan Bautista de Chaparral hospital by the combat nurses of the Humanitarian Demining N.° 2 and the Infantry Battalion N.° 17 General Domingo Caicedo.
In the face of the emergency, the work of the soldiers doesn’t stop, who at this time are helping to deal with tiles, remove debris, evacuate the people and provide security over the area.
These operations ratify the commitment to safeguard the lives of the inhabitants of southern Tolima in cases of loss due to natural disasters.
