In the department of Putumayo, finding and destruction of illegal fuel refinery

En Putumayo, ubicada y destruida refinería ilegal de combustible

Within the framework of a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Army, the Aerospace Force, the Police and the Prosecutor's Office, the troops report the finding and destruction of an illegal fuel refinery, in the village of El Paraíso, municipality of Orito, Putumayo.

Thanks to information provided by Naval Intelligence, three pools were found by troops, containing 27,738 gallons of petroleum, as well as two rudimentary gas cylinders, which, apparently, would be used for the production of fuel, destined for the illicit activities of the Residual Organized Armed Group Structura 48.

The members of the Military Forces proceeded to the controlled destruction of the material, in coordination with the judicial authorities, ensuring compliance with the established protocols.

It should be noted that these illegal refineries not only hit the ecosystems of the region with spills and contamination of water sources, but in the same way feed the criminal machinery of illegal armed groups.

The Colombian Navy, through the Amazonas Naval Force, reaffirms its commitment to the security of communities, the fight against illicit activities and the protection of the environment, in the south of the country.
