As part of the efforts to weaken the resources of illegal groups, the Colombian Navy, as part of a river operation in the village of Montepa, municipality of Puerto Leguizamo - Putumayo, found and destroyed an illegal ammunition hideout, which apparently belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group Structura 48.
The Naval Intelligence-guided operation was led by troops of Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 30, who, jointly with Colombian National Army, found the explosives hidden and buried. During the operation, 32 rudimentary grenades and a gas cylinder bomb were found by troops, devices that apparently would be used for attacks against the Military Forces and to intimidate the inhabitants.
In the place, the military team specialized in demining proceeded with the controlled destruction of the explosive elements, raising the security of the personnel members of the Military Forces and of the nearby communities.
