Military forces find illegal hiding place of FARC dissidents with more than 370 explosive devices in Putumayo

Fuerzas Militares localizan depósito ilegal de las disidencias con más de 370 artefactos explosivos en Putumayo

This result complements last week operations where 651 mines were found by troops in the rural area of Mocoa as well as 197 IED ready to be launched from drones in Piamonte, Cauca department.

Within the framework of military operations against the phenomena of criminality in the south of the country framed within the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan - Tiempo 2- in the last few hours the Military Forces found a new illegal hiding place in which criminals of the so-called Comandos de Frontera of the Second Marquetalia of the FARC dissidents, were hiding 376 explosive devices ready to be planted and carry out terrorist operations against the inhabitants and the Military Forces in Putumayo.

The event took place in a rural area of the municipality of Villagarzon. Troops of Colombian National Army, the Navy and the Air Force arrived at the place, who, with the support of the Police, found the site where, in the middle of the thick vegetation of the area, they found the dangerous devices hidden under black plastics.

At the site, in addition, members of the Military Forces found 62 meters of conductive cable and several 9-volt batteries, indispensable elements.

According to the first information, the so-called Comandos de Frontera of the Second Marquetalia of the FARC dissidents, would have hidden these elements in the area due to the heavy operation of the authorities who in the last week have already found two illegal hiding places with explosives (651 in Mocoa and 197 in Piamonte, Cauca department) and for fear of being discovered moved them to this region hoping to disorient the troops to later install them and carry out terrorist operations against the inhabitants and the Military Forces and State-constructions. In the same way, a good amount of these anti-personnel mines were going to be destined for the constant struggle for the illegal control of the territory against the Carolina Ramírez structure of the so-called Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents.

Through this important result of the military operation, the military Forces continue to weaken the criminal operations of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the south of the country, hitting their logistical and criminal networks, providing the conditions of security, defense and well-being of the communities.

The General Command of the Military Forces ordered the strengthening of the security operation in this zone to continue carrying out the search for the group of the dissidents that would have constructed this illegal hiding place.
