As part of the ongoing operation supported by the Colombian Navy to hit the drug trafficking chain in the departments of Cauca and Chocó, in recent weeks, in joint and coordinated operations with Colombian National Army and the National Police, 10 laboratories for the production of coca base paste in the Colombian Pacific were found by troops and dismantled.
In the rural area of the municipality of Timbiquí - department of Cauca, the troops found seven rudimentary structures for the production of coca base paste, in which 1,737 gallons of liquid precursors and 2,444 kilograms of solid precursors were found. It is presumed that these structures would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group Rafael Aguilera that commits crimes in the area.
The other three laboratories were found by troops in the rural area of the municipalities of Itsmina and Litoral del San Juan in Chocó, in which 137 gallons of liquid precursors and 47 kilograms of solid precursors were found by troops. According to preliminary information, these structures allegedly belonged to the Ernesto Che Guevara front of the organized armed group ELN.
Through these operations, the Military Forces target the illegal activities of Organized Armed Groups that profit from drug trafficking, since coca paste is the main precursor for the cocaine hydrochloride.
