It is a day of celebration in the department of Antioquia, thanks to the coordinated work conducted by public and private institutions of Colombia and the United States. It was possible to benefit with completely free surgeries and maxillofacial procedures made to one hundred Antioquian children and young people with cleft lip and cleft palate, which could be corrected with plastic and aesthetic surgery.
The Government of Antioquia through the Office of the First Lady in partnership with the United States Foundation Rotaplast, The Rotary Club Medell铆n Poblado, The General Hospital of Medell铆n with the support of the Colombian Air Force, the Seventh Division of the Army, the Casas San Jos茅, the Sectional Secretariat of Health and the Gastronomic Tour of Antioquia, carried out with resounding success the Program ROGER SCHULTE, 100 SMILES.
The mission that was carried out in Medell铆n successfully carried out seventy-eight surgeries of cleft lip and cleft palate and fifty-nine maxillofacial procedures. It was made by an interdisciplinary team of 40 people including professionals, specialists, assistants and volunteers, who traveled from San Francisco - USA, to carried out this humanitarian operation, which led dozens of families to enjoy a new life project today.
In order to carry out the prior selection of minors, five evaluation and selection activities were carried out to 250 children from all over the department. From this evaluation, 100 children, who benefited of the program, were chosen.
