12 members of the residual GAO in Arauca voluntarily surrendered to the Army

Defense Minister and General Commander of the Military Forces verify war material surrendered by 12 members of the residual GAO that voluntary surrendered in Arauca.

In the group of people who voluntary surrendered there are indigenous, foreigners and minors who had been illegally recruited by this group outlaw. In the photo, the Minister of National Defense, the General Commander of the Military Forces and the Commander of the National Army, among other commanders, verify the war material handed over by these people.

 

This achievement of the Task Force Quiron, military unit of the Eighth Division of the National Army, in the department of Arauca, was possible thanks to the continuous campaigns carried out through the institutional radios stations and the distribution of leaflets, so the voluntary presentation of 12 people that belonged to the Tenth Structure, Martín Villa, of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO r , that commits crimes in this area of ​​the country, was possible.

 

Four of these people, who had been illegally recruited, were minors, but thanks to this courageous decision it was possible for them to disengage and get the support of the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute for the restoration of their rights.

 

The other eight, including were Indigenous, women and foreigners, handed over to the troops with two hand grenades, five handguns, a submachinegun and 154 cartridges of different calibers.

 

These people occupied positions as guerrilla fighters and members of the terrorist support networks, which represents the destabilization of the Uriel Londoño Company whose leader is alias 'Pescado', responsible for the terrorist operation against the Security forces the last June 9 in Tame, in the department of Arauca, where five of our soldiers died.

 

So the troops of the Eighteenth Brigade came to the camp area that housed the newly demobilized, finding 13 rifles, 81 magazines, 2,387 cartridges of different calibers, six MGL grenades, 10 multipurpose vests, military accessories and a mass grave with three bodies that will be identified by the authorities.
