Taking into account the multiple emergency cases, due to the inclement rains of recent weeks, in which the Colombian Aerospace Force has rescued 78 people so far in 2025 in the department of Meta, again a sudden rising of the Ariari River endangered the inhabitants of El Dorado, which is why 12 of them had to be rescued by a UH60 Blackhawk helicopter of the Air Combat Command No. 2.
In the maneuver, 10 elderly people, two minors and two dogs were evacuated, using the rescue crane maneuver, in which the personal rescuer descends by a cable and take people to the helicopter.
As soon as the coordination was carried out by the National Risk Management Unit, UNGRD, and the National Personnel Recovery Center, CENRP, the crew of the Angel, as the helicopter is commonly known, reacted in a timely manner to the village of San José de El Dorado, to get these 12 people and their pets to safety on the municipality's soccer field.
