The Colombian Air Force through the Air Combat Command No.5, sent its air resources to save the lives of 13 indigenous babies of the Wounaan people, who live in the village of Buena Vista, in the Bajo Baud贸 region in Choc贸, who are in delicate health due to infectious gastroenteritis, transmitted by food.

Thanks to the coordination carried out by the National Personnel Recovery Center (CENRP) and the Emergency Regulatory Center (CRUE) of the department of Choc贸, a UH-60 Angel helicopter and military medical personnel arrived in the municipality of Pizarro, to carry out in a timely manner the humanitarian aeromedical evacuation of the minors to the city of Quibd贸, so that they could receive the necessary medical assistance in a higher level health center.

During the flights, the minors, who were traveling under the care of their mothers, were monitored by military doctors and rescuers of Air Force personnel, thus getting optimal and stable conditions, to be given to the ambulances that were waiting for them at the ramp of the airport that serves the Choc贸 capital city.

The support provided by the Colombian Air Force was essential for the immediate assistance of the public health emergency faced by the inhabitants, taking into account that the village is six hours by river of the municipality, which makes the displacement of the minors more complex.
