13 people rescued in the Colombian Pacific

Rescatadas 13 personas en el Pacífico colombiano

Between the village of Bahía Cupica and the municipality of Bahía Solano, in the department of Chocó, the Colombian Navy found a boat that was adrift with 13 passengers, including two minors, apparently due to engine failures.

The search and rescue operation began when an official of the mayor's office of Bahía Solano informed the Colombian Navy that the ship Mis Mejores Días had set sail on the Bahía Cupica - Bahía Solano route and they had not established communication for some hours.

Upon receiving the alert call, the Naval Institution immediately sent a Coast Guard unit to conduct the search and rescue operation, to find the boat after two hours of intense work.

Once the boat's crew members were safely on board the Coast Guard unit, they were taken to the municipality of Bahía Solano where they were provided with medical assistance by the Naval Health personnel.

The information and documentation of the boat was verified with the Port Authority, establishing that it did not have the respective permits to sail.

The maritime authority invites the owners of the boats to have the respective sailings and documentation up to date, as well as check the status of the boats and comply with all safety measures before setting sail.
