14 members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, were arrested, including alias “Don Putas”

Alias Don Putas, alleged ringleader of the Pacific Substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, is accused of the crimes of extortion, attempted murder, illegal carrying of weapons and forced displacement.

 

The operations that took place simultaneously occurred in the Colombian Caribbean and the Pacific region.

 

In the operation, two individuals who are being held in prison centers in the Colombian Pacific were in the same way notified of their arrests.

 

In the course of an inter-institutional operation by the Colombian Navy and the Attorney General's Office, 14 alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo were arrested in the departments of Bolívar, Chocó and Cundinamarca.

 

With information from naval intelligence, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Buenaventura and the Navy Infantry Battalions No.21 and No.23 of the Colombian Navy and members of the Technical Investigation Corps, arrived at the rural area of Nuquí and the village El Valle in the department of Chocó, where they arrested nine people, including a woman, complying with the arrest orders issued by Prosecutor's Office No.1 Specialized Delegate for the territorial security of Bogotá.

 

Simultaneously, in the capital city of the country, three men were arrested, including alias Don Putas, 38, alleged ringleader of the criminal component of the Pacifico Substructure of this Organized Armed Group, who is accused of committing crimes such as extortion, illegal carrying of weapons and attempted murder. In the same way, it is presumed that he is responsible for the forced displacement of some inhabitants of the municipality of Nuquí - department of Chocó, in the 2022.

 

Meanwhile, in the South of Bolívar, guided by naval intelligence information, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bolívar, of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17, members of the Gaula of the Police, Military Forces and members of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office arrived in the rural area of the municipalities of Hatillo de Loba and El Banco - Magdalena to comply with some arrest warrants against alias Jonathan or El Pollo, group ringleader of the Erlin Pino Duarte Substructure and alias Tito, member of the Luis Fernando Gutiérrez substructure, for the crimes of extortion and kidnapping.

 

Additionally, during the operation, two people, who are already in prison facilities, were notified of their arrests for the alleged crimes of association to commit crimes, manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing weapons. These men are currently serving their sentences in the Quibdó prison and the Nuquí police station respectively.

 

With this operation, the Colombian Navy and the Attorney General's Office are hitting hard the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, accused of committing extortion, forced displacement, forced recruitment, drug trafficking and homicide in the department of Chocó,  disturbing the tourist and social activities of the municipality.

 

The 14 arrested were put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office No. 1 of Bogotá for prosecution for the alleged crimes of association to commit crimes, manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, attempted homicide, extortion, coercion and forced displacement.
