Units of the Colombian Navy, jointly with troops of the National Army and coordinated with the Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the National Police, the Criminal Investigation Section - SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) and the Attorney General's Office, carried out the arrest of 15 alleged members of the Heroes del Caribe substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who committed crimes in the department of Bolívar.
During different operations, troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.17 carried out river control maneuvers on the Magdalena River that led to the arrest of 13 individuals in the municipalities Magangué and Zambrano, complying with court orders for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes and aggravated extortion.
Simultaneously, in a ground control operation it was possible the arrest in flagrante delicto of two individuals for the crime of trafficking, manufacture or carrying of firearms, accessories or ammunition.
Among those arrested is alias Tarzan, alleged ringleader of the zone of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who carried out coordination for the collection of money from extortion in the Bolivar department and would in the same way be in charge of coordinating and participating in eight homicides reported in the villages of Cascajal, Juan Arias and La Ventura of the municipality of Magangué.
At the time of the arrests, two pistols, a revolver, 16 9 mm cartridges and six cell phones were found by troops. The arrested individuals were put into custody of a Judge of the city of Cartagena.
