2 thousand men of the National Army arrive in the Catatumbo region

Norte de Santander. In the frame of the strategies ordered by the commander of the Military Forces, General Alberto José Mejía Ferrero, and announced by the Minister of Defense Luis Carlos Villegas to attend the humanitarian situation reported in the Catatumbo region, about 2,000 soldiers begin to mobilize from the capital city of the country and the National Training Center of Tolemaida towards the Catatumbo region.

 

Yesterday early in the morning, the Colombian Air Force and its aircrafts, transported the troops of the Battalion of Assistance and Prevention of Disasters of the Military Engineers Brigade, and the Special Forces Division; 2,000 soldiers will maintain the operation against the threats and will support the community to lighten its needs that increased due to the confrontation between the organized armed groups in the region of Catatumbo, in the department of Norte de Santander.

 

They are reinforcements that had already been ordered by the commander of the Military Forces that today were announced by the Minister of Defense as a continuity to the measures of operations of the Military Forces to continue the operation against the ELN and 'Los Pelusos' in the Catatumbo region to guarantee Human Rights of the population the International Humanitarian Law.
