In the course of two operations in the Special District of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, the Colombian Navy seized 220 kilograms of explosives, allegedly belonging to the Residual Organized Armed Group Structure 6 Jaime Martínez.

The first operation took place in the village “8” of Buenaventura, where troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.24  found an illegal hiding place with four plastic barrels, which contained 120 kilograms of ANFO-type explosives inside.

The second finding occurred in the Veneral village, three kilometers of the Yurumanguí River, where Colombian Navy units are actively working in the territory and were attacked with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and rifle fire by members of the FARC dissidents.

After repelling the attack, the navy men found 100 kilograms of explosives in the area consisting of 18 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), six grenades, a pentolite unit and 18 meters of detonating cord. In the same way, a 5.56 mm rifle cannon tube, 248 rounds of ammunition of different caliber and five flags alluding to the Residual Organized Armed Group Structura 6 Jaime Martínez were found by troops in the area.

With these results, the Naval Institution decisively strikes at the criminal capacity of the agents that generate violence that intend to disturb the tranquility of the inhabitants of the Special District of Buenaventura.
