The finding of this illegal hiding place prevented a possible terrorist attack in the southwestern department of Tolima.
Thanks to military intelligence work, troops of the 18th Colonel Jaime Rooke Infantry Battalion, reported the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, found an illegal hideout of explosives belonging to the residual organized armed group (GAO-r), Joaquín González front, a dissident structure under the command of alias Calarcá.
The operation took place in the village of Tolda Blanca, village of Playarrica, in the municipality of San Antonio, department of Tolima, where approximately 30 kilograms of explosives were found by troops, which, according to intelligence information, would be used for the execution of a terrorist attack in this area of the department.
Two uniforms similar to those used by the National Police, pamphlets alluding to the Joaquín González front and a motorcycle battery were in the same way found at the scene, elements that evidence the criminal intentions of this illegal structure.
The explosive element was destroyed in controlled conditions by the anti-explosive group of the National Police, while the other elements found were put into custody of the authority for the corresponding judicial procedures.
According to the technical assessments, the capacity of the explosive would have generated a destruction area of approximately 40 meters, putting the inhabitants and the constructions of the region at serious risk.
