Those arrested would be invading lands of special ecological importance, causing damage to the environment.
Troops of the Military Engineers Battalion No. 5, in coordination with the National Police and the Regional Autonomous Corporation for Defense, carried out the intervention to a property in Bucaramanga, Santander, classified as an area of special ecological importance, which left the arrest of 33 people for alleged environmental crimes.
According to the joint intelligence work, it was established that those arrested would be causing damage to the environment by carrying out deforestation activities, destruction of the ecosystem, pollution to the environment and instability of the communities surrounding the sector.
The 33 arrested were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office for due judicial process.
