350 inhabitants of the Buenaventura rural area received comprehensive care and donations

350 habitantes de la zona rural Buenaventura recibieron atención integral y donaciones

Within the framework of the Unified operation of the State, the Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force and in coordination with the Community Council of the People of La Barra, the Transforma Social Foundation and the Naval Social operation, carried out a three-day Activity to Support Development in the villages of La Barra, Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, rural area of the Special District of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca.

The Colombian Navy has conducted coordination with the Transforma Social Foundation, so that 25 volunteers will move from the city of Santiago de Cali to the port of Buenaventura by land, where they were received by the Colombian Sailors to be taken by sea to Juanchaco; later, with the support of the navy men who serve their military service in the Pacific Naval Air Group, all the necessary elements for the activities and donations were received.

On the first day of the activity, the volunteers walked for about 30 minutes to get the village La Barra, where they started the activities with the visit of Rear Admiral Rafael Arturo Aranguren Devia, Commander of the Pacific Naval Force, who talked with the leaders and the community, in the same way participated in the first distribution of aid and medical assistance.

“We will be for three days in the communities of La Barra, Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, carrying out inter-institutional services, in order to contribute to these families in their basic vulnerabilities. We hope to provide support to a large number of people, who undoubtedly need health care, medical services, psychology and well-being talks (...),” said Rear Admiral Rafael Arturo Aranguren Devia, Commander of the Pacific Naval Force.

On the second day, the rain was no impediment for the residents of Juanchaco and Ladrilleros, to come and receive a ton of donations consisting of food baskets, clothing, school kits, toilet kits, and participate with their children in recreational activities, who with smiles on their faces thanked the services provided. In the same way, with a door-to-door visit they received a message of encouragement and the word of God, as food for the soul.

"Our objective is to bring help, but in the same way to demonstrate God's love, visiting each family in their home giving them love, hugs, a message of encouragement and listening to them. It is to carry out a psychosocial accompaniment addressing problems of cultural identity, domestic violence, extreme poverty, among others (...),” said Aura María Villegas, a volunteer at the Transforma Social Foundation.

”In this coordination with the Colombian Navy, we have received important support for this activity; an accompaniment on security and transport issues to transport the personnel (...)," said Santiago Ortiz, leader of the Community Council of the People of La Barra.
