Among those rescued were three minors, who were brought to safety by the Colombian Sailors.
The Colombian Navy, within the framework of naval operations, rescued 13 people, after staying nine hours adrift near the sector known as Bocas del Río San Juan and Charambira, approximately 40 nautical miles of the Special District of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
The search and rescue operation began, when the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance Composite System - SICTVM of the Coast Guard Station, received an alert of the Captain of the ship named "Yessica Heidy T”, who said that the boat in which they were traveling towards the municipality of Pizarro, department of Chocó, was drifting, after being damaged by an electrical fault in its propulsion system. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Naval Institution was sent, to start the search efforts in the said area.
Once they were brought to safety, the Colombian sailors checked the health status of the 13 people on board, including three minors, who said they had no alterations in their body and were taken to a safe port. In the same way, communication was established with a ship transiting through the place named Crismar, in order to carry out the towing maneuver of the boat to the port of Buenaventura.
