The Colombian Navy in the framework of combined operations with the Brazilian Federal Police, 544 kilograms of marijuana were found by troops, which were being transported on a boat on the Amazonas River in the municipality of Villa Bittencourt, in the State of Amazonas - Brazil, which was destined for the city of Manaus of the neighboring country, where it was awaited by members of a transnational drug trafficking organization.
This result was possible with intelligence information provided by the Colombian Navy to the 16th Rainforest Brigade of the Brazilian Federal Police, who found Skunk-type marijuana, a variety of cannabis considered to have high psychoactive potency.
During the inspection of the ship, the illegal substance was found in rectangular packages. The cargo was allegedly guarded by members of the residual Organized Armed Groups that commit crimes in the Amazonas region, during the transit over this tributary in Colombian territory.
With this finding, the commercialization of these hallucinogenic substances, valued at more than three million dollars, is prevented, which will stop entering the finances of these multicrime organizations, in addition to reducing their capacity to harm the community. The material was put into custody of the 16th Rainforest Infantry Brigade of the Brazilian Federal Police.
