About a ton of narcotics found in the Colombian Pacific

Incautada cerca de una tonelada de estupefacientes en el Pacífico colombiano

During the operation, four individuals were arrested, two Nicaraguans, an Ecuadorian and a Colombian.

 

Units of the Colombian Navy, within the framework of maritime control and security operations, intercepted a ship that was crewed by four individuals of different nationality, who were transporting about a ton of narcotics in Colombian waters.

 

Thanks to the information provided by Naval Intelligence, with the support of a Unit of the Pacific Surface Flotilla, a ship was detected traveling suspiciously 90 nautical miles of the port of Buenaventura, department of Valle de Cauca. A Rapid Reaction Unit – URR of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station was immediately deployed, who intercepted the boat, finding 37 sacks inside that by their characteristics resembled illicit substances.

 

The four individuals and the items found were taken to the facilities of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, determining that the packages contained 924 kilograms of marijuana.

 

The arrested personnel and the illegal merchandise found were placed at the put into custody of of the authorities, to continue with their judicial process.

 

Through this result, an economic loss of more than five million dollars was possible, which will stop criminal organizations from entering the service of drug trafficking. In the same way, the commercialization of more than 150 thousand doses of narcotic drugs is stopped.
