Troops of the National Army, in military operations conducted in a sustained manner against crime factors in the Department of Chocó, and in assistance to early warning No.038 of 2019, received an alert from the information networks, about the presence of members of the organized armed group, Gao, Clan del Golfo, in rural areas of Acandi, Chocó.
In the first operation, troops in operations to face the substructure Efren Vargas Gutiérrez of this organized armed group, in the sector Guati of the municipality of Acandí, criminals are forced to leave the area and the troops destroyed a camp and military materials and accessories.
Subsequently, in the second military operation that took place in the Capitancito sector of the municipality of Acandi, the army soldiers fought against the same criminal structure of the GAO Clan del Golfo and destroyed a launch ramp for “tatucos” or mortar-type grenades, which would be used to attack the communities that inhabit the region and the Military Forces; the troops remain in the area to ensure the safety of civilians.
Military operations will continue to be carried out on a sustained basis in the Department of Chocó, with the aim of further damaging the criminal structures of organized armed groups. Their operation in the same way protects and gives security to civilians and neutralizes any operation that terrorist groups.
