Five members of Organized Armed Groups surrendered to justice in the department of Cauca, after repeatedly listening to the messages broadcast during the air loudspeaker operations carried out by the Colombian Aerospace Force, a result that evidences the effectiveness of these strategies in promoting the abandonment of illegality.
Among the men who decided to give up their weapons are three members of these structures, aged by 21 and 36, who would have belonged to the Carlos Patiño Structure and the Jaime Martínez Structure playing roles as group members and support in logistical activities and the military operation, as well as two other individuals linked to these groups.
After leaving their areas of interference in the rural area of the municipality of El Tambo, including the village of Huisitó and villages such as Playa Rica, Honduras, La Concha, Estanquillo and El Naya, as well as sectors of the municipality of López de Micay, the five men went, from different villages, to the municipality of Argelia, department of Cauca, where they voluntarily looked for the National Army units to initiate the corresponding process of surrender to justice.
According to what these people said, one of the reasons why they decided to leave the illegality was motivated by the messages transmitted during the awareness missions carried out by the Air Combat Command No. 7, which promote the abandonment of illegality and publicize the legal benefits and comprehensive care routes provided by the Colombian State for those who choose to disassociate themselves of these structures.
