Aeromedical evacuation from Ciudad Perdida managed to transfer injured woman to Santa Marta

Evacuación aeromédica desde Ciudad Perdida permitió trasladar a mujer lesionada hacia Santa Marta

As part of a personnel recovery mission in support of the inhabitants, the Colombian Aerospace Force carried out the aeromedical evacuation of a 63-year-old woman who had a fracture in her left leg and required specialized medical assistance.

The patient was transferred aboard a Huey II Colombian Air Force 4436 helicopter from the Ciudad Perdida Nature Reserve to the city of Santa Marta. To carry out this operation, the pilots had to enter an area of difficult access, due to its complex geography and limited conditions for landing; however, thanks to their experience and training reported execute the maneuver safely, leading the timely extraction and transfer of the patient to a healthcare center where she will receive the corresponding medical treatment.

The evacuation was carried out in response to a request of the Magdalena Government Secretariat, through the departmental Emergency Regulatory Center (CRUE). During the flight, Air Combat Command Recovery Personnel No. 3 works for the permanent monitoring of the patient, who remained stable throughout the transfer procedure.

Through this type of humanitarian operations, the Colombian Aerospace Force continues to make its air resources and the professionalism of its human talent available to support emergency response in different regions of the country, contributing to safeguarding the lives of Colombians.
