A 38-year-old man, who was injured by rifle shots while riding a motorcycle in the municipality of Tibú, department of Norte de Santander, was evacuated by a UH-60 Angel helicopter of the Colombian Aerospace Force, FAC, to the city of Cúcuta, where he received specialized medical assistance due to the severity of his injuries.
After the incident, the patient was initially treated at the San José de Tibú Hospital and later taken by ambulance to the facilities of the Combat Engineer Battalion No. 30. From that point, the Colombian Air Force aircraft carried out the aeromedical transfer to the Thirtieth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in Cúcuta, where another ambulance took him to a more complex healthcare center to continue with his treatment.
The air mission was indispensable due to the patient's condition, enabling to significantly reduce the transfer times and facilitate his timely access to specialized services; as for the circumstances in which the events occurred, as well as the identity and location of the two alleged responsible for the injuries caused to the citizen, there is an investigation by the authorities.
Organized from Air Combat Command No. 1 and in conjunction with Colombian National Army, the mission reflected the effective coordination conducted by air and ground resources, as well as the professionalism of the UH-60 Angel helicopter crew and Personnel Recovery personnel. Through this type of operations, the Colombian Military forces reaffirm their commitment to respond in a timely manner to protect life and support the inhabitants in situations that demand immediate action.
