The operation, which was carried out in the municipality of Calamar, department of Guaviare, led to the death in the framework of military operations of 19 members of this residual Organized Armed Group, as well as an arrest, 2 voluntary surrenders and the recovery of 3 minors who had been illegally recruited.
In a joint operation conducted by the Colombian Military Forces and the National Police, with the support of military and police intelligence, the threat of 25 members of the criminal structures known as Substructure Martín Villa and Substructure Primera Armando Ríos, under the command of alias Pescado and alias Jimmy, trusted men of Iván Mordisco, was neutralized; they would be in charge of perpetrating terrorist operations against the inhabitants and the Military Forces in these departments of the country.
During the operations, 5 machineguns, 23 rifles, 6 smallfirearms, 3 mortars, 73 grenades, 50 explosive devices and more than 59,000 ammunition of different calibers were found by troops. In the same way, military accessories and communication equipment used by criminal structures were found by troops.
The troops are constantly deployed in the area, due to the estimated activity of more than 120 members of these illegal organizations, which would be responsible for the control of drug trafficking routes to Venezuela and Brazil.
The National Police, through its judicial officers, is carrying out the corresponding urgent acts. In the same way, the three recovered minors are under the protection of the authorities, who carry out the procedures for the restoration of their rights. Two more people voluntarily surrendered, recognizing their participation in these structures.
The military operations are carried out in strict compliance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL), to protect the life and physical condition of both the inhabitants and the members of the Military Forces.
This result represents a significant blow to the armed, logistical and financial capacity of these outlaw groups, which through drug trafficking, extortion and illicit recruitment seek to cause terror and destabilization in the region.
