Due to the overflow of the Tarra River and different landslides that occurred in the rural area of the municipalities of 脕brego and Villa Caro, in Norte de Santander, dozens of families were hit and became completely isolated, for which the Colombian Air Force sent aircraft and crews trained in rescue to evacuate the inhabitants by air.

In an operation with the Colombian Air Force's National Personnel Recovery Center, through Air Combat Commands No.1- 4 and 5, in conjunction with the National Army and coordinated with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) and the municipalities of 脕brego and Villa Caro, since June 2, monitoring overflights over the area and search and rescue missions were carried out with the UH-60 Angel and Huey II helicopters.

So far, 118 people have been evacuated, including adults and children, who were taken of the hit villages to the urban area of the municipality of 脕brego, where they are being assisted by local authorities and personnel of the Red Cross, Civil Defense and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD.
