This operation came after the attack on the Dagua Police post in the department of Valle del Cauca.
As part of the security strategy called Tormenta, conducted by the troops of the National Army to counter the criminal operations of the Residual Armed Groups, GAO-r in Spanish, and through pressure exerted by military personnel, in support of the Police, troops achieved the arrest of an alleged member of this criminal organization and the recovery of a minor.
The action occurred after members of the residual GAO Jaime Martínez attacked a police patrol in the municipality El Queremal, a rural area of the municipality of Dagua, west of the department of Valle del Cauca.
The arrested individual identified as Morrocoy, apparently would be a member of that GAO-r. This man would have participated in other attacks against the Police station of the municipality of Dagua, with the purpose of hitting the civil personnel and the Security Forces. Likewise, he would be in charge of inciting and promoting the forced conscription of minors, indigenous communities and inhabitants of this municipality.
In the area, the National Army continues to deploy military operations with the aim of finding the others responsible for the incident that occurred yesterday. Similarly, troops promote the safety of civilians and their resources in all municipalities of the department of Valle del Cauca, and thus neutralize any criminal plan of organized armed groups.
