The virtual event sought to promote direct marketing between peasants in the south of the country and state institutions to boost the economy and strengthen the producers.

The National Army and its Fe en Colombia program, in coordination with the Agencia de Renovación del Territorio (Territorial Renewal Agency) and the Agencia de Desarrollo Rural (Rural Development Agency), held the first phase of virtual business meeting within the framework of the local public shopping strategy in the department of Putumayo.

During the direct marketing meeting between buyers and sellers, which was attended by farmers from 30 associations in the municipalities of Mocoa, Puerto Asís and Villagarzón that are part of the department of Putumayo, through the Planes de Desarrollo con Enfoque Territorial (Territorially Focused Development Plans), agreements were signed for $75,176,200 pesos.

Of these, $67,500,000 corresponded to transactions with operators of the Programa de Alimentación Escolar (School Food Program) of the Putumayo’s Government; $6,131,200 were agreements with the Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (Colombian Institute of Family Welfare) and $1,545,000 with the National Army.

This event, which sought to boost the economy during the period of quarantine, extended on August 13 by the Presidency of the Republic, was held during the Mesa Nacional de Compras Públicas Locales (National Talks of Local Public Purchases) and other entities joined them, such as: the Presidential Council for Stabilization and Consolidation, the Putumayo Government, the Ministry of National Education through the Special Administrative Unit for School Food, the Ministry of Agriculture, Social Prosperity, the Institute of Food and Medicament Surveillance, the Putumayo Chamber of Commerce, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the municipalities of Mocoa, Puerto Asís and Villagarzón.

A total of 67 producers and/or local entrepreneurs had virtual meetings with 15 buyers using information and telecommunications technologies, moderated by the group of professionals from the Sixth Division's Fe en Colombia program. Eight protocol agreements were signed for eggs, brown sugar loaf, fish, lemon, banana and yucca, and three others were unresolved.
