This person would be responsible for several homicides in the south of the department of Cesar.
Troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Santander, in coordination with the National Police, the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office and through search warrants, arrested alias Chango, alleged member of the focused criminal component of the Edgar Madrid Benjumea Substructure, of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.
This individual, 24 years old, would be committing crimes in this organization for 3 years, and would be responsible for at least 8 homicides in the municipalities of Aguachica and San Martín, Cesar, including the death a minor under 12 years old, in the middle of a hitmen operation earlier this year.
According to the investigations, alias Chango would also be related to displacements within the aforementioned municipalities and extortion of the inhabitants and productive groups of the region. With his arrest, the financial arm of the Substructure is weakened and the criminal intentions of this GAO in this region of the department of Cesar are neutralized.
Alias Chango was put into custody of the judicial authority to face charges for attempted homicide, aggravated homicide, personal injuries and manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of weapons.
Through this result, Colombian National Army, in compliance with the Ayacucho Plan, is constant in its development of permanent military operations that leads to neutralize and attack the criminal intentions of illegal armed groups in the region, protecting the good physical condition, life and freedom of all inhabitants. In the same way, it invites people to report in a timely manner, through line 147 of the Military Gaula, any situation that threatens the security of families, in order to activate the rapid and powerful operation of the troops working for the security of the country.
