In the municipality of El Carmen de Viboral, the inter-institutional campaign against drug trafficking for the Antioquia East was launched, accompanied by of military and civilian authorities of the region.

This mission will be carried out by the Colombian Air Force, units of the Army's Special Anti-Drug Trafficking Brigade and members of the Jungle group of the National Police who plan to leave this area of the department free of illicit plantations before December 20 of this year.

In the same way, this military and police operation will intensify operations to weaken all links in the drug trafficking chain and thus hit the finances of illegal groups that commit crimes in the area.

This campaign is part of one of the commitments made by the Ministry of Defense, at a Security Council held last November 7, in the municipality.

Initiatives such as this contribute to the consolidation of a stable and lasting peace within the framework of the Constitution, the law, respect, protection of Human Rights and the implementation of International Humanitarian Law.
