In order to strengthen security, within the framework of the Travel Confident on Holidays campaign, the Military Transport Air Command, CATAM, of the Colombian Aerospace Force, sent a Huey II helicopter to conduct air patrols over the main access roads to the capital city of the country, with a special focus on citizens who are starting to return to Bogota after the mid-year holiday season.
The mid-year holidays represent a rest period for students of schools and universities, as well as an opportunity for many families to move by the country, in search of tourism, family reunions or simply a respite of the daily routine. During these weeks, the flow of people on the main roads, transport terminals, airports and river ports increases considerably, being this period one of the busiest of the year in terms of mobility and national tourism.
Due to the increase in travels, it is essential to contribute to safety and mobility on the roads; this is where the support of the Military Forces plays a key role. The Military Forces work together with the National Police and institutions such as the Traffic Directorate, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD, the Red Cross and Civil Defense, carrying out a coordinated work that protects the lives of Colombians.
In this way, the Colombian Aerospace Force is constant in its control of airspace, focusing operations on the country's roads.
