Air resources for surveillance and reconnaissance to the department of Vichada public calamity service

Capacidades aéreas para vigilancia y reconocimiento al servicio de calamidad pública vichadense

In response to the declaration of a public calamity in the department of Vichada, the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Eastern Air Group (GAORI), deployed aerial surveillance and territorial reconnaissance resources in areas hit or with a high risk of emergency.

By means of preventive and strategic surveillance from the air, reconnaissance overflights are carried out in vulnerable areas such as Puerto Carreño, Cumaribo and Santa Rosalía, in order to identify critical conditions, verify strikes and evaluate the feasibility of establishing safe routes for the transport of aid and personnel. In addition, constant monitoring is carried out, generating key information for decision-making.

As part of the contingency plan, the GAORI actively participates in the Unified Command Checkpoints (PMU) by the Vichada Governorate, coordinating efforts with civil authorities, relief agencies and institutions of the National Risk Management System. In addition, the availability of means to provide support in the emergency is checked daily, including aircraft for the evacuation of people at risk and the deployment of air support logistics resources.
