Air transportation of fuel in the face of shortages in Puerto Inírida and Mitú

Transporte aéreo de combustible frente a desabastecimiento en Puerto Inírida y Mitú

The Colombian Aerospace Force sent a C-130 Hercules aircraft of the Military Transport Air Command, CATAM, to carry out the transfer of fuel of the Air Combat Command No. 2 in Apiay, Meta department, to the municipalities of Puerto Inírida, Guainía department, and Mitú, Vaupés department.

The crew of the aircraft has made two flights, one to Puerto Inírida and the other to Mitú, transporting more than 6,000 gallons of fuel through the Batt Bulk Aviation Transport Tank - BATT. It is expected that the last transfer one will be executed tomorrow to the capital city of Vaupés.

This mission is carried out at the request and in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, addressing the critical situation that these villages are currently facing due to the shortage of fuel, caused by the low flow of rivers, associated with the intense summer and the poor condition of the road, which has hinder regular supply, generating risks to the maintenance of other essential public services.
