In an inter-institutional operation conducted by the Coast Guard of the Colombian Navy and Migración Colombia, a foreign citizen was arrested at a well-known hotel in the Rosario Islands, an insular area found approximately 40 kilometers by sea from Cartagena - Bolívar.
The individual, preliminarily identified as coming from Albania, was wanted with a red notice of the International Criminal Police Organization - Interpol, for alleged crimes related to firearms trafficking.
The operation began with the transfer of a specialized team from Cartagena to the insular area, with the aim of verifying information provided by Migración Colombia about a suspicious individual. Upon being approached, the man tried to flee, but thanks to the quick operation of the members of the Military Forces, he was arrested and put into custody of the authorities.
Subsequently, the identity of the individual was confirmed and his passport, which was associated with the Interpol alert issued by his country of origin, was verified. At the moment, the Albanian citizen is in the custody of the Colombian authorities, while the corresponding legal procedures are being carried out and the communication with the international institutions involved is constant.
