Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Operations Plan, Colombian National Army, through the use of troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 1, unit of the Omega Task Force, reported the arrest of Freddy Páez Anzola, alias Mosca, alleged expert in the handling of explosives activation systems of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Jhon Linares Structure.
In the last few hours, thanks to the effectiveness of intelligence resources and the execution of tactical encirclement and search tasks carried out in the Laureles village, municipality of La Macarena, Meta department, soldiers of the Direct Action and Reconnaissance Battalion Nº 1, in coordination with the National Police, reported the arrest of alias Mosca, alleged member of the GAO-r Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, Jhon Linares Structure.
Alias Mosca, one of the closest and most trusted men of the ringleader alias Calarcá, had specialized training as an explosives expert. For more than a decade he allegedly participated in the manufacture and use of improvised explosive devices, used in attacks against the security forces and the inhabitants, as well as criminal intelligence activities, extortion and illegal recruitment of children and adolescents.
This individual was wanted by the Colombian justice system through arrest order No. 13, of October 16, 2023, for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes and the manufacture, trafficking and carrying of weapons, restricted-use ammunition and explosives for the exclusive use of the Military Forces. The judicial process was carried out by the Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations, Prosecutor's Office 162, of the Attorney General's Office, based in Florencia, department of Caquetá.
Alias Mosca had as area of influence the rural area of the municipality of La Macarena, specifically in the hamlets Laureles and La Cristalina, as well as in the village of Puerto Cachicamo, municipality of San José del Guaviare, department of Guaviare.
The arrest of this individual represents a strategic blow to the structure of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, commanded by alias Calarcá, weakening its capacity to plan and execute terrorist acts, and directly hitting its military operations in the departments of Meta and Caquetá.
Firearms and ammunition were seized during the procedure, including: a Pietro Beretta pistol, 9 mm caliber; 3 shotguns, caliber.22 mm and cartridges of different calibers.
The man was put into custody of the authority for the corresponding judicial process. This result continues to weaken the criminal capacity of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in this region of the country.
