One of the alleged ringleaders responsible for devastating the Los Farallones Natural Park in Cali with illicit mining and polluting natural ecosystems in Valle and Cauca was arrested by troops of the Rapid Deployment Force N.°5, of the Third Division, in Suárez, a municipality in the north of the Cauca region.
This individual, known as alias Tulande, was arrested after the investigation work to identify that he would in the same way be link to the support networks of the Jaime Martínez residual structure that commits crimes on the boundaries of the two departments.
According to these investigations, the illicit income derived of the illicit exploitation of mining deposits directly fed the finances of the criminal structure through the collection of money from extortion and the violent territorial control exercised in the region.
Due to the serious ecological loss and the damage to water sources and biodiversity in southwestern Colombia, alias “Tulande” was on the list of the eight most wanted criminals for environmental crimes in the country, which is why a reward of $100 million COP was provided.
This individual was put into custody of the corresponding authority and must face charges for association to commit crimes, invasion of areas of ecological importance, damage to natural resources and ecocide, among others related to environmental damage.
