Amazonas commemorates 93 years of the Battle of Tarapacá: honor and sovereignty

Amazonas conmemora 93 años de la Batalla de Tarapacá: honor y soberanía

Within the framework of the 93rd anniversary of the Battle of Tarapacá, the BR-26 National Army, Navy Republic of Colombia Amazon Coast Guard Group, the Amazon Air Group Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Police Amazonas Police Department commemorated this important date with a solemn ceremony in the Francisco de Paula Santander de Leticia Park, Department of Amazonas, emblematic environment for the historical memory of the south of the country.

Every February 14, Colombia honors the heroes who, in 1933, defended national sovereignty with determination in the Colombo-Peruvian conflict. The Battle of Tarapacá marked a momentous milestone in the nation's military history, not only because of the courage shown by those who fought on land and river, but in the same way because of the decisive role of air power, which began to consolidate as a strategic element in the defense of the territory.

During the ceremonial act, a wreath was laid in honor of the heroes who defended and gave their lives in this important battle, amid an atmosphere of deep respect and patriotism. This tribute recalled the sacrifice of those who, with honor and courage, protected the territorial integrity on the southern border, reaffirming the national identity and the historical legacy that remains in branch.

The activity became a symbol of the permanent commitment of the Military Forces and the National Police to the Department of the Amazon, ratifying their determination to continue defending the sovereignty, security and tranquility of the region, under the principles of honor, loyalty and service to the homeland.
