A member of this gang was arrested after a confrontation with members of the Military Forces.
The troops found an illegal collection center with 350 kilograms of coca base paste.
During two simultaneous operations carried out by the Colombian Navy, Colombian National Army and the National Police, it was possible to arrest a member of the Organized Armed Group Clan del Golfo, in addition to the finding and destruction of a collection center used for the production of cocaine hydrochloride, in the departments of Antioquia and Chocó.
The first operation was carried out in the La Clarita sector, on the banks of the Teguerre River, in a rural area of the municipality of Riosucio - Chocó department. There, troops of Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 16 and of the Rainforest Battalion No. 54 Bajo Atrato held an armed confrontation with members of the GAO Clan del Golfo, who obtained the arrest of a member of this criminal organization. During the operation, a communications center was dismantled and 229 cartridges of different calibers, a Galil rifle, and a pistol were found by troops along with their magazines.
The confrontation left no damage to the troops. The arrested man and the material found were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution.
In the second operation, and in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, a collection center used to process drugs was found and destroyed in controlled conditions, which was found in the Lomas Aisladas sector, in the municipality of Turbo - Antioquia. Approximately 350 kilograms of coca base paste in sacks, 150 gallons of coca base, 350 kilograms of caustic soda and 440 gallons of acetone were found by troops at the site.
