Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Plan, troops of the 13th Tequendama Medium Cavalry Group, attached to the Thirteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in a joint operation with the Colombian Aerospace Force and in coordination with the Carabineros Directorate of the National Police and the Regional Autonomous Corporation (CAR), dealt a powerful blow to the illicit finances of organized crime groups operating in Cundinamarca.
The interagency intervention, carried out in the village of Ramada Flores, municipality of Lenguazaque, led to the closure of a sinkhole-type mine and the finding of tools used for the illegal exploitation of approximately 700 tons of mineral coal per month, with an estimated cost of 380 million pesos.
During the judicial procedure, two individuals were arrested in flagrante delicto, who could be charged with the crime of illegal exploitation of renewable natural resources.
In addition, an illegal construction project with an approximate cost of 700 million pesos was hit, which directly impacts the illegal activities of the criminal groups operating in the department.
It was in the same way possible to mitigate the environmental impact caused in the area, where illegal exploitation has generated deforestation and water, air and soil pollution. It is estimated that the recovery of these ecosystems will take approximately 40 years.
In this way, the troops of the Thirteenth Brigade, unit of the Fifth Division of Colombian National Army, reaffirm their commitment to security and coexistence in the center of the country.
