Troops of the Mountain Battalion N.° 5, in response to their mission to protect the department of Quindío of the criminal intentions of the residual organized armed group Frente 57 Yaír Bermúdez, led to the arrest of alias La Gorda, in the rural area of Tuluá, department of Valle de Cauca.
After several months of follow-up, through the integration of Army intelligence, SIPOL and Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Police of Valle del Cauca, the prosecution of this woman was carried out, to subsequently carry out search work in a house in the village of La Marina, hamlet Iberia.
At the time of searching the property, the units found 78 5.56 caliber cartridges, 5 primers, a rifle magazine, an MGL grenade, a chameleon-type pixelated camouflage suit, elements and military accessories, extortion pamphlets alluding to the GAO-r Frente 57 Yaír Bermúdez and an agenda with profiling of farms for extortion purposes.
Alias La Gorda apparently would have a criminal experience of two years, with criminal incidence in rural areas of the municipalities of Tuluá, Bugalagrande, Sevilla, department of Valle de Cauca and Genova, department of Quindío. This woman would be in charge of elaborating, printing and distributing intimidating extortion pamphlets to peasants and ranchers, among others.
In the same way, she would conduct logistical functions related to the supply of food, concealment of elements of military and military accessories of the structure, coordination of strategic meetings with ringleaders and members of the group, with whom she would travel through the area of interference.
This person was put into custody of the authority, which charges her with the alleged crimes of manufacturing, trafficking or carrying firearms and ammunition for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, proselytism, criminal apology and coercion of the inhabitants.
By means of this result, the Eighth Brigade and the National Police hit the extortive incursion of the organized armed group in the department of Quindío and Valle del Cauca, therefore, the intention of positioning the terrorism support network, responsible for profiling the victims, who were ultimately victims of extortion of money and intimidation, in order to exert pressure.
