He was arrested by troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 3 in Ocaña; he is accused of intimidating the inhabitants in order to extort money of them.
Within the framework of Operation Catatumbo, Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Police, continues to strike the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the department of Norte de Santander and generate fear in the inhabitants.
The arrested man, alias Mandinga, is wanted by court order for the crimes of extortion, association to commit crimes, manufacture, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
This individual has a criminal experience of more than 10 years in this group outlaw, he would be in charge of collecting money from extortion against from collective passenger transport companies, peasants and merchants living in the municipalities of El Tarra, La Playa, Ábrego, Hacarí and Ocaña.
Through this arrest, Colombian National Army contributes to tranquility in the region and combats high-impact crimes such as extortion.
The arrested man and the material found were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, to continue with the corresponding investigations and judicial processes.
The main objective is to restore tranquility to the families of the Catatumbo region, through powerful military operations against all groups outlaw.
