The facts took place as the soldiers were attacked with rifle fire.
In the framework of stability operations, when our soldiers were in the Zumacal sector, there was a combat, apparently against members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN. There, in the rural area of C煤cuta, Department of Norte de Santander, two individuals were arrested and one more died.
The military was on the village of Buena Esperanza, reinforcing security, after learning about some public denunciations of the possible presence of armed individuals who would be making illegal roadblocks and extorting money of the productive groups of the region, when they were attacked by armed individuals, who shot repeatedly at the soldiers.
In order to preserve the safety and good physical condition of the community, the area was secured by Army units. Rifles, pistols, magazines, ammunition of different calibers, material of military accessories, balaclavas and scarves alluding to the ELN and communication elements were in the same way found at the place.
This operation is classified as a possible incident of violation of the ceasefire, since anxiety and terror were being sown in the people of the rural area of the municipality of C煤cuta. In the same way, the explosive devices are part of a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.
The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authority.
