The Zeus Stabilization and Consolidation Command, with troops of Ground Operations Battalion No.17, in the frame of the Ayacucho Plan, through a joint operation with the Air Force and coordinated with the National Police and Attorney General's Office, in the last few hours dealt a resounding blow to the illicit activities of criminal groups that commit crimes in the south of Tolima, which mitigates the commercialization of psychoactive substances in several regions of the center of the country.

The operation was carried out in the village of Amoya, a rural area of the municipality of Chaparral, where the troops belonging to the 17th Ground Operations Battalion arrived to, supported by the Colombian Air Force, National Police units and the Attorney General's Office, support the operation. In the place, individuals had hidden more than 75 kilograms of marijuana, distributed in packed packages and ready to be distributed. Additionally, it was possible the arrest of two individuals, the finding of a van, a motorcycle, 2 traumatic pistols, 2 magazines, 12 cartridges for traumatic pistol and cell phones.

Military intelligence warned that this shipment of psychoactive substances would have as its final destination the municipalities of southern Tolima, northern Huila and the capital city of the Republic.

The arrested and the materials were put into custody of the authorities.

It should be noted that this shipment would be valued at more than 200 million pesos, money that would be used to finance illicit activities against civilians.

With these operations, the Fifth Division of the National Army fulfills its institutional mission of weakening the sources of financing of drug trafficking that generate anxiety and insecurity in civilians.
