Army deals new blow to the illegal exploitation of mining sites in Arauca

cogfm_operacion_contra_mineria_ilegal_ejc.jpg

The military operation was carried out in Las Vegas village, municipality of Saravena, by troops of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 18 General Gabriel Reveiz Pizarro, when those involved, without prior authorizations and permits from municipal authorities, extracted, on the border of the Arauca River, stones with anti-technical methods, which causes the deterioration of the orographic and environmental system.

The individuals were using heavy machinery and dump trucks: three dump trucks, a low bed for the transport of heavy materials, a backhoe and an excavator, material that, together with those captured, was put into custody of the authorities.

The product allegedly extracted would be used to feed the illegal activities of the Organized Criminality Groups.

In order to generate surveillance and control in the protection of the diversity and good physical condition of the environment, and based on Law 599 of 2000, on crimes against natural resources and the environment, the National Army conducts all operations that seek to protect and defend the natural resources of our Nation.
