Army Disaster Prevention Brigade works to counter fires

Brigada de Atención y Prevención de Desastres del Ejército trabaja en atención de incendios

Colombian National Army, through its Brigade of Engineers for Disaster Prevention, as part of the National Disaster Risk System (SNGRD), continues to work to quell the forest fires that are reported in different departments of the country, such as Huila, Tolima and Boyacá.

The rescue soldiers, through the use of drones to identify hot spots, guided the personnel on the ground, who controlled and cooled the zone which led to extinguish the flames.

The coordinated work with the other relief agencies has been extended for seven days in the municipality of Palermo, Huila. In the same way, the soldiers are currently carrying out work in Aipe, Huila; Ráquira, Boyacá, and are in preparation to intervene in Natagaima, Tolima.

The forest fires have left an approximate report of 10,000 hectares burned at the moment.

The work will continue in coordination with the institutions to neutralize as soon as possible these emergencies that disturb the community, natural resources and the ecosystem.
